The Garden Committee has started an e-newsletter with news about the exciting things happening in the garden at P.S. 32. The monthly e-newsletter will feature garden photos, gardening links, and if we get fancy, maybe a recipe or two! We hope that you’ll enjoy seeing what’s going on in the Garden, how you can get involved, gardening tips, and lots of fun facts. The first one went out last week and we’ll send out about once a month going forward.

P.S. 32’s Hispanic Heritage Night was a great success! Families came out to celebrate the many contributions of Hispanic Americans to our culture.
The evening started out with a little history lesson on the origins of salsa dancing and a demonstration by guest artists, Mr. Daniel Diaz and Ms. Jasmine Jennings, representing Nieves Latin Dance Studio. Next, Mr. Diaz and Ms. Jennings got everybody off their feet with a mini dance lesson in the Bachata and Salsa styles.
Palmier pastries (Orejas de Elefante)
After working on our moves, it was community potluck time! Empandas, beans & rice, arroz con pollo, fried plantains, slow roasted pork, dulce de leche and palmier pastries (orejas de elefante) were some of the dishes served up. If you have a recipe that you would like to submit for an upcoming P.S. 32 Family Cookbook, please email it to firstname.lastname@example.org
A big thank you to Ms. Angela Bowie, our Parent Coordinator, for organizing a great evening for the P.S. 32 community. Can’t wait to do it again next year!

We love to read at P.S. 32.! Students are encouraged to dress up on Oct 31st as their favorite story book characters.
Ms Florio as the P.S. 32 Golden Ticket
A Jumpsquiffling Gloriumptious Time was had by ALL at P.S. 32’s magical Roald Dahl-O-Ween event last Saturday in the schoolyard. Students, parents, friends, teachers and staff came dressed as Maltildas, James’, the Fantastic Foxes, Oompa- Loompas and all the golden ticket winners including a blown up Violet Beauregarde, just before she pops.
Children ran around collecting signatures from P.S. 32 teachers disguised as their favorite characters. Art and reading activities for all ages centered around every Dahl story imaginable. Children who crafted their own Wonkalicious Candy Catching Hats were rewarded when they least expected it by sweet morsals dropping from the sky. And the Revolting Recipes were not revolting enough to keep folks away! Crispy wasp stings on a piece of buttered toast, eatable marshmallow pillows, lickable wallpaper and Stink Bug’s Eggs were gobbled up in seconds and thirds.
This tribute to the magic of reading and the wonders of imagination could not have happened without the vision of Adam Marcus, over 70 Dahlunteers and all of the community donors. Can’t wait to do it again next year! Enjoy these photos and if you have more of your own please send them to email@example.com.
The word is out that P.S. 32 is pretty magical! Check out this blog post about the event.
And if you were the lucky winner of the Matilda prize , please let us know, we’re looking for you!
