Parenting and the Art of War

On Zoom (Password is the first name of the presenter)

Presented By: Neil S. Weintraub, LCSW School Social Worker

Although it may be better to avoid it when possible, conflict is an inevitable part of relationships and parenting. Mr. Weintraub brings a truly unique perspective to parenting children in these difficult times. Calling upon strategies first laid out in ancient Chinese texts thousands of years ago, Mr. Weintraub outlines a paradigm for thinking about parent-child interactions.

Parenting and the Art Of War offers parents an opportunity to apply strategic and tactical principals to the art of raising children in these challenging times. Through developing an in-depth understanding of the nature and ultimate goal of conflict, parents will begin to utilize a new mindset that will result in shorter, less intense arguments, and the ability to avoid power-struggles.

This is not just about parenting techniques as helpful hints. It is about forming a new way of thinking about interactions with the goal of keeping control- not of your child, but of yourself.

Neil Weintraub is a licensed clinical social worker with over 25 years experience working with diverse groups of children and parents in a variety of settings, including mental health clinics, preventive service programs, and pediatric day treatment. He currently works for the New York City Department of Education at PS 32.
