Equity @PS32:
At PS32, equity is the deliberate, daily practice of ensuring every child gets exactly what they need to thrive. Because our students do not all start from the same place, we work tirelessly to dismantle barriers and build bridges. In our classrooms, this looks like culturally responsive teaching, accessible programming for unique strengths, and an inclusive culture where every family has a voice. We do not just celebrate our differences; we actively invest in them to make fairness, opportunity, and belonging the foundation of every student's success.
Equity and Diversity Committee:
Our Equity and Diversity Committee brings our entire community together by operating as a dedicated joint partnership between school staff and families. Because our mission spans many areas, we often split into smaller working groups to tackle specific projects, such as developing inclusive school events or sharing culturally responsive resources. However, no matter how separate our daily tasks may be, we always stay firmly connected by the same goal. Guided by our vision of one school, one family, we work hand in hand to ensure every child at PS32 experiences a true sense of belonging, fairness, and opportunity.
Education Through Celebration:
Each month, we dedicate a specific area of focus to anchor our school-wide conversations. This allows our students, staff, and families to engage deeply and intentionally with themes that mirror the diverse cultures and lived experiences within our unique PS32 community.
We know that true inclusion cannot be confined to a calendar month. We treat our monthly focus as a spotlight, not a boundary, and we consistently celebrate other traditions and cultures as they naturally arise in our curriculum and students' lives.
